1. What Data We Collect

Account Data

• Email address (from your Google account)
• Name (optional, for personalization)

Brain Items

• Everything you dump: text, images, web clips
• Automatically generated metadata: topics, categories, connections
• Timestamps of creation and modification

Integration Data

• Google Calendar: access to calendars you select
• Google Tasks: access to the Neuriq task list

Technical Data

• IP address (for security and abuse prevention)
• Browser/device information (for analytics and debugging)
• Error reports (to fix bugs)

2. Where Data Is Stored

All your data is stored in the European Union:

• Database: Google Firebase Firestore (EU region: europe-west3 / europe-west1)
• Files: Google Cloud Storage (EU region)
• Authentication: Firebase Authentication

Your data never leaves the European Union.

3. How We Use Your Data

We DO use your data for:

• Making the Neuriq app function
• AI processing of your input (categorization, linking, summarization)
• Synchronization with Google Calendar/Tasks
• Improving the app based on aggregated, anonymized patterns
• Providing support when you request it

We DO NOT use your data for:

• Training AI models
• Selling to third parties
• Advertising or profiling
• Sharing with other users (unless you explicitly enable this in future team features)

4. AI Processing

We use Google Gemini API for AI functionality. This means:

• Your data is sent to Google's API for processing
• Google's API processes data statelessly (no storage, no training)
• Processing falls under Google's AI API terms, which explicitly prohibit using customer data for model training

5. Data Retention

• Active accounts: As long as your account is active
• Deleted items: Immediately removed from database
• Deleted accounts: All data removed within 30 days
• Logs: Maximum 90 days for debugging

6. Your Rights (GDPR)

As an EU resident, you have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of all your data
• Correction: Modify incorrect data
• Deletion: Permanently delete all your data
• Portability: Export your data in a standard format
• Objection: Object to certain types of processing

7. Security

• HTTPS/TLS for all connections
• AES-256 encryption for stored data
• Firebase Security Rules for strict access control
• Regular security audits
• No password storage (OAuth-only authentication)

8. Cookies

We use minimal cookies:

• Essential: Session and authentication (required)
• Analytics: Anonymized usage statistics (optional)

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification.
